My most common question I get on Social Media is what products do I use when Bible journaling. When I first started journaling I had the same question. I would message other bloggers and question them about their products and where I can buy them. Now, I’m getting asked the questions and it truly is humbling that I get to help now!
When I started Bible journaling I started off with a pencil because as a human, I’m flawed and make mistakes. A whole lot of mistakes. I didn’t want to commit to something permitted. I was not as bold as other bloggers to commit to pens and permitted markers. So I began hunting for everything erasable.
The first four products are erasable! Yes, I said it. ERASABLE. Then I will get into the non-erasable supplies.

PENS
#1 PILOT FriXion Fineliner Erasable Marker Pens, Fine Point, Assorted Colors 12-Pack.
The FriXion Fineline Erasable Markers were my first purchase for Bible journaling and has become my favorite go to markers to mark up notes on my Bible. Not only are the earsable but they do NOT bleed through the pages. They are my absolute favorite.
#2 Pilot Frixion ColorSticks Erasable Gel Ink Pens, Fine Point (0.7mm), Assorted Colors, 10 Count
The FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pens have been my most recent purchase. I’ve been using the Vanstek (next product) more often during Bible journaling. I like these a bit more because they have a more fine print and they too do not bleed through the pages. But ever since I bought these I’ve been using them over the Vanstek.
#3 Vanstek 15 Colors Retractable Erasable Gel Pens Clicker, Fine Point(0.7),
Nonetheless, the Vanstek Gel Pens are still good they are fine points as well. However they have a thicker ballpoint than the FriXion ones. The gel ink on these take couple seconds to dry, otherwise, it will smear on the paper. I usually blow over the ink for about 5-7 seconds before moving on. The FriXion does not have this problem, they tend to dry immediately.
HIGHLIGHTERS
#4 PILOT FriXion Light Pastel Collection Erasable Highlighters, Assorted Color Inks, 5-Pack
Time to chat about highlighters! If you haven’t noticed already, I love FriXion products. They are my favorite and its all due to being erasable and non-bleed, which is perfect for Bible Journaling. With that said, FriXion also has highlighters and this 5-pack pastel color highlighters are the best. One thing I do want to mention about the FriXion erasable products is that you do no need a whole lot of pressure to erase. They erase so easily and the highlighters too! You cannot go wrong with erasable highlighters ( pens and markers too), best part, none of the FriXion products bleed through.
#5 Zebra Mildliner, Double Ended Highlighter, Broad and Fine Tips, Assorted Colors, 15 Pack
Now, we talk about the non-erasable supplies. The Zebra Double sided Mildliners are the most used in the journaling world. I’m sure you have seen other Bible journaling bloggers use these, they are common. Though they are not erasable, I enjoy using them to highlight. I’m way more carefully when I do use these because of course, I have the tendency to mess up. It’s just who I am, a flawed human. But I love that they come with a finer tip and a more broad tip.
To be honest, I haven’t used the broad tip and only been using the fine tip when highlighting. It just gives it a more fine look to the Bible and they do have a fine bleed through the pages but not like a regular marker or sharpie. Also, you can use these to outline your calligraphy, they just make those letters and Bibles look so pretty.
Calligraphy
#6 Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens (2-Pack)
I’m currently learning calligraphy and all my calligaphy friends have recommended me to use Tombow! So, I went out and bought the two pack. I do plan on buying the assorted colors, but that will have to wait for now because my husband thinks I have too many pens and markers (neverrr enough though, lol). However, the Tombow pens truly are great for calligraphy, they do not bleed through the pages as rough as a sharpie. But you will see the ink on the other side of your Bible page. I really like the fact they are a thinner brush pen and it gives your up and down strokes a more diverse look.
#7 Sharpie Brush Tip Pens, Assorted Colors, 12 Count
The Sharpie brush pens are a thicker point than the Tombow. They have an easier flow to pushing down. The up strokes are a thicker mark so you will need to brush harder when doing down or light ligher for your up strokes. These are great for bigger font but if you are use a smaller font in your Bible I highly recommend the Tombow.
#8 Sharpie Electro Pop Permanent Markers, Ultra Fine Point, Assorted Colors, 24 Count
The Sharpie electro pop markers are my go to, to write my non-fancy lettering on post-its. I also use them to write over my washi tape important dates and times (read below what I use washi tape for) I do not recommend using these directly on your Bible because they will bleed through the pages. Unless it’s your preference then definitely go for it!
Washi Tape + Post its
#9 18 Rolls Gold Foil Floral Washi Tape Set
I’ve been getting lots of questions why I use washi tape and for what. Washi tape is the cherry on top to my Bible jornaling. The most common use for washi tape is to mark important passages. I just the slimmer ones and place a tape over a passage/Bible verse that spoke to me in that season (then write the date and time with Sharpie to remember the date). I also use them to paste my notes and post-it notes, and to bookmark pages (as seen in my pictures). They come in a set of large, medium, and thin size.
Post its
I use post its to extra notes or to make quotes stand out in my Bible. I also use it to make Bible verses stand out too. Here are four different Post-it styles I use to journal.
Bibles
For journaling I use two Bibles and then I read out of one particular one without making any marks. I will link all three below.
#10 ESV Single Column Journaling Bible, Large Print (Summer Garden)
This is my main journaling Bible.
#11 ESV Wide Margin Reference Bible (TruTone, Brown)
I just bought this one and I love that it has double margins. That means I can take notes on the left side of the passage and the right side! How exciting!
NKJV, Deluxe Reference Bible, Compact Large Print, Leathersoft, Brown, Red Letter Edition, Comfort Print: Holy Bible, New King James Version
^ This is the Bible I do not journal in, it’s for read only. I really love the font size of this Bible.
